Official Cover Art

In very exciting news, Disney's 1977 classic, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, is being released on Blu-ray on 27th August. The studio hasn't give official confirmation yet, but the title is now available for pre-order at Amazon.

The film consists of three previously released shorts: Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree (1966),  Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day (1968) and Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too (1974). Additional animation was produced to link the the three shorts and make the story advance more fluidly.

The film was previously announced for a Spring 2013 release date (see the trailer below), but was delayed with no explanation. Technical specs and official artwork are yet to be revealed, but expect more details in the near future.

UPDATE: Disney has issued an official press release detailing this release. The set will come in a combo pack including a DVD and a Digital Copy alongside the BD and will feature new and old bonus material, including:

  • NEW! Disney Intermission – Press “pause” during the movie and find out what happens! The narrator invites younger viewers to play along with the Hundred Acre Wood friends in a variety of engaging activities.
